  2. Brother Jerry,
I will be teaching from the gospel of Mark beginning in September. I want to be able to explain where John the baptizer got he idea to baptize. I understand why he preached a baptism of repentance, but where did this idea come from?

    • In John 1:33John himself said, “I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.”

Also consider Jesus’ question to the chief priests when they asked by what authority he did these things: “The baptism of John, whence was it? From heaven or from men?”
