Prayers in the Psalms (1)

Keep steady my steps according to your promise,

and let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Psalm 119:133 (ESV)

God has promised to be with us, to lead and guide us by his Spirit. Where He leads us, we find perfect freedom and liberty.

On the other hand, if we reject his guidance, we find bondage. Peter wrote of those who promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption” (2 Peter 2:19). They are slaves because iniquity has dominion over them.

Let me pray with the Psalmist, “let no iniquity get dominion over me.

Instead, let me remember:

For freedom Christ has set us free…do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (ESV)

Lord, keep me from the dominion of iniquity, the dominion of darkness.

May I always stand firm in the freedom, which Jesus brings.

May I never again submit to a yoke of bondage and slavery.

Keep me from those habits of thought or action that may enslave me to sin.

May you always walk with me to steady my steps according to your promise, that I may walk hand in hand with Jesus according to your teaching.
