ON MY FATHER’S SIDE

Here is a song that I think you might like – even though some might question some of the Christology and Theology involved. There is also a lot of liberty taken in reconstructing the conversation between Jesus and the doctors of the law when He was twelve. I don’t think it will make a bit of difference to the quality of your pleasure in the song.

OTHER VOICES: From the Conservative Christian Church

Barton W. Stone

I have recently been receiving an email edition of The Christian Standard, published by Standard Publishing Company. For much more than 100 years, this has been the most widely read organ of the Conservative Christian Churches.

In the edition I received on 6/9 but dated 6/13/2010, editor Mark Taylor draws particular attention to two essays by leading men in that group. These ask “Who Are We?” and “Where Are We Going?” I found these articles very positive – but also very thought-provoking. It seems we in the Church of Christ are not the only part of the Restoration Movement having trouble figuring out just who we are and what we need to be doing now!

They struggle with some of the same issues we do. I think you will enjoy reading these thoughtful essays – and just might find some things there that will resonate with you as you think about our different, but somewhat similar, situation.

You can read these articles by Roy Lawson and Dick Alexander on the Christian Standard website. Enjoy!
