Communion Meditation: I Am Your Deliverer

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. – Exodus 20:2

These words prefaced God’s giving of the Ten Commandments to Israel. Before God told them what He expected of them, He reminded the of what He had done for them by delivering them from slavery.

At the Table where God’s Family sits to eat with the Savior in our Family meal, He reminds us of what He has done for us.

  • He delivered us from bondage to the powers of darkness and evil.
  • He gave us freedom in the glorious liberty of the children of God, where we have peace with God and love for one another.
  • He raised our sights to glories yet to be as He gives us hope beyond this life.
  • He, as we share His resurrection, empowers us to live in this present evil world as true children of God.

In this meal together, if we eat it remembering Him, we find renewal to live for Him as we grow in Him until He comes.

God always reminds His people of what He has done before telling us what we should do – and the greatest thing He has done for us is the gift of His Son to redeem and deliver us from our bondage to sin.
